The OHSAS EN 18001(Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) was published in 2007 by the British Standards Institution as a British standard for management of occupational health and safety in organizations. 

Today, this standard is valid in more than 80 countries worldwide as an internationally recognized standard for the assessment and certification of an occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS). 

On the basis of an occupational health and safety management system according to OHSAS 1800, companies are able to develop and implement goals and a company-specific health and safety policy.  These are consistent with current legal requirements for occupational health and safety and professional associations.  

The focus is on work safety, human protection and health care.  The aim is to increase the safety and occupational health and safety of employees of a company.  Through appropriate preventive measures, employees are able to take necessary measures even before a disease or an accident occurs.  

The OHSAS 18001 standard is compatible with the management system standards ISO 9001 and ISO 14001. The OHSAS 18001 can be integrated into an existing management system and can be implemented by any organization.
